Cooking With Cricut- School Days

Welcome To Funky Cards
Cooking With Cricut-
School Days

Welcome to the School Days Cooking With Cricut challenge.  It is so hard to believe that summer has come to an end and I am back in school!  I am guessing for most of you that your kids are back in school and you just might even be celebrating!!  I do read the blogs you know:)  That's ok! I know we can be a handful at times.

I have been making bookmarks since elementary school.  I'm a big fan of homemade bookmarks!  Most of you have probably already seen corner bookmarks, but if you haven't I wanted to share these with you today.  Many other crafters have made these.  I am going to share a tutorial with you later in the blog post so that you can make them too:)

These adorable kids were cut using the Everyday Paper Dolls Cricut cartridge.  One option is to cut them on blackout, as seen here, and use a stamp set, such as the PK-490 Everyday Character Face Assortment Stamp Set from Peachy Keen Stamps to create the adorable faces.

I baby sit for a sister and brother with the initials K. W. and

J. W.  These personalized bookmarks will be perfect for their schoolbooks.  When I design corner bookmarks I don't use googly eyes or gems or things that will easily pop off.   When using stamps for eyes, I do use a white gel pen for the whites of the eyes to make them stand out just a bit.  The cheeks are given a bit of red ink to make them look rosy:) It is applied with the tip of a Q-tip.

You can see how the page of the book fits between the opening of the bookmark.  Since the bookmark will be handled a lot, you could even put Mod Podge on it if you want:)

Click on the photo to enlarge and read this cute book:)

Here is how I stamp and finish off the back of my bookmarks.  The solid color is a perfect square.  The stamp is applied and then the patterned triangles are added covering the solid paper.
