A BIG THANK YOU to my followers

Welcome to Funky Cards
As the month of April comes to an end, I want to take the time to thank you all for all the time, energy, love, and compassion that you so freely gave this month to the "I Feel the Love Project."  We were able to collect over 40 cards for Emily and they will soon be on the way to her in a special box with a note letting her know just how much we all care.

Emily

We now have a total of 493 cards received, just 7 cards shy of 500.  When I started the IFTL Project I hoped to reach 500 cards by the time I graduate high school.  That won't be until June 2013.  I had to change my goal so I decided to try to reach 500 cards by my 17th birthday.  I fell just 7 cards short, as my birthday was April 18th.  I have no doubts that we will reach my goal in May.

We will be launching the May "I Feel the Love Project" tomorrow.  With this launch, we will have successfully launched a project each month for one year.  Be ready to celebrate our one year anniversary during the month of June.     I have some great posts planned for you.  You won't want to miss this celebration.  This project cannot succeed without you.  Thank you again from the bottom of my heart.

Have a wonderful day.

Mother's Day Card Drive

Welcome to Funky Cards

Today I want to share something special with you.  I heard about this fabulous card drive from Jessica at Homespun Elegance.  She is asking crafters to please consider donating either a handmade or store bought Mother's Day card to the Sheffield Place. Sheffield Place is a homeless shelter dedicated to empowering homeless mothers and their children and helping them to heal from their trauma and become self-sufficient. We would like to send 50 Mother's Day cards to the children who currently reside at Sheffield Place so that they can give their moms a well deserved and special treat for Mother's Day.

Would you like to be a part of this special card drive?  All you need to do is create or buy one Mother's Day card to send to the Sheffield Place. Please make sure the card is not signed so that the children can sign the cards for their moms.  Below is the card that I made to donate to the shelter.

The little blue card says,
"This coupon is good for a lifetime of hugs."

Cards can be mailed to: Sheffield PlaceDavid Hanzlick
6604 East 12th Street
Kansas City, MO 64126-2208
Attn: Mother's Day Cards

If you would like to learn more about this card drive, please click HERE.  You could help to make this a special Mother's Day for one deserving mom.  Thank you so much.

Have a wonderful day.  Thank you for stopping by.

I love the beginning of Spring, a lot because I am sick of Winter, but mainly just watching the flowers trying to pop up out of the ground, and then getting to see that first one!!! SO exciting. I usually snap a picture of the first flower and send it to my mama."

Made For Mom Blog Hop

Welcome to Funky Cards
Made For Mom Blog Hop
Featuring the Crazy About Cricut Thankful Thursday DT
Thank you Jenny for letting me participate as a guest designer along side your amazingly talented design team.  If you arrived from Cheryl's blog you are in the right place, if not, head back to Jenny's blog so that you don't miss any of today's fabulous projects.

For those of you who know me, you know that I love crafting with my mom.  When I was asked to be in this blog hop, I knew right away what I wanted to do. I had an empty container that I had been wanting to repurpose.  With a little paint, some vinyl, a paper flower, and some real flowers, I knew I could make a gift for my mom.

This is never going to hold shampoo and lotions again!  The old flowered design had to go and a fresh coat of white primer had to be applied first.

Once this was done the pink coat and purple dots could be applied.
Using the Jubilee Cricut cartridge, the phrase "Let Your Ideas" was cut at 1.25" and the word "Blossom" was cut at 2," (all from vinyl).  Since we craft together, I came up with a sentiment that made sense for the craft room!

"Let Your Ideas Blossom"

The only thing left to do was add a paper flower and a variety real blossoms.  With the exception of the African Violets, I picked all of the others flowers and herbs out of our yard.  Happy early Mother's Day Mom.  I Love You!

Cooking With Cricut Challenge #83- Bling It On!

Welcome To Funky Cards
Cooking With Cricut-Challenge #83
Bling It On!

This week Cooking With Cricut is all about the Bling!  The more bling the better so Bling it on!

I am so happy to tell you that the wonderful family with the two boys I babysit for just welcomed a new baby girl to their family.  Now I get to watch three kids!!  I am so excited.  Of course I needed to make a card for baby Alexa.  What perfect timing.  This baby girl needs a card with bling!

This is called a dresser side step card.  It looks like the typical side step card, but the left side is a set of dresser drawers.  You can make the base several different ways...

Dresser Card Base:  5 ½” x 8 ½”. Cut down the centre (2 ¾”) starting at the 1” mark and stopping at 5 ¼”. Score @ 1” and 2” from one edge to the centre cut.
Drawers: Cut three ¾” x 2”
Front mat on baby cards 2” x 2 ½” on all other cards 2 ½” square. If you’re double matting make the second mat ¼” smaller.
For my card, there are many personal touches.  Using the Sweetheart Cricut cartridge, hearts were cut to attach to a handmade mobile to hang above the crib.  The crib was cut from the Every Day Cricut cartridge.
The adorable bear is the Bear I Heart U cutting file from Papercraftingworld.com.  Instead of the heart balloon, the bear is holding 3 personalized balloons with Alexa's birth information...weight, height, date.  They were made using the Cameo (click on photo to enlarge).
Alexa's onesie was personalized with her name.  Then the bling was added to the neckline and to the bottom for the snaps.  The dresser drawers also got a little bling added to the handles and a bit of ink added to the edges to make them look distressed.

CWC and PCW Home Decor Blog Hop Day 2

Welcome to Funky Cards
Paper Crafting World and Cooking With Cricut’s Home Décor Blog Hop!

Our Design Teams have been designing and creating home decor projects.  You won't find any cards here, just wonderful ways to decorate your home:)  If you arrived from Sharon's blog, you are in the right place. If you’ve joined us in mid-Hop and would like to check out all the other fantastic projects head on over Melinda’s Paper Crafting World and start at the beginning.

Those of you who have been following me for awhile know that my oldest brother, Dalton, is proudly serving in the US Navy. He is currently on his first deployment, which takes him half way around the world.  This is extremely hard for all of us, including his girlfriend, Sami. I wanted to make something for Sami to keep in her room that would make her smile while Dalton is away.

Here are a few of the supplies I started with. I found this cool picture frame at Michael's in the wood section. I also picked up the letter "S" for Sami, an anchor to represent the Navy and a package of nurse stickers. Sami would like to be a nurse when she finishes school.

This is the finished project. The perfect combination of Dalton and Sami. The stars for the flag were cut from the Stand and Salute Cricut cartridge. The face for the nurse was cut from the Everyday Paper Dolls Cricut cartridge.

Here is a close up of the letter "S."

I hope you like your picture frame Sami:)

Cooking With Cricut Challenge #82- Send a Letter

Happy 17th Birthday Madison!  We love you so much and pray that your day is extra special just like you:)
Love Mom, Dad, Dalton, and Aaron

Welcome To Funky Cards
Cooking With Cricut-Challenge #82
Send a Letter
This week Cooking With Cricut is celebrating "National Card & Letter Writing Month." We are making cards or scrapbook pages featuring letters. I designed a card that can be sent to a friend when you just want to say Hi!

How cute is this little bird and her envelope cut from the Birthday Bash Cricut cartridge?  To make them pop a bit, their outer borders were stitched with a gel pen.  The sentiment is from My Creative Time's Just a Little Note to Say stamp set.

Cooking With Cricut Challenge #81- Card Outreach

Welcome To Funky Cards
Cooking With Cricut-Challenge #81
Card Outreach

This week Cooking With Cricut is asking our followers to design and create cards for two young and deserving girls. These cards can be thinking of you cards or any type of card that would bring a smile to a young lady who is suffering from cancer.  Emily is 6 years old and Patty is 13.  To learn more click HERE.  You don't have to mail the cards to be eligible to win.

This is the card I made for Emily. I think Emily ROCKS so the sentiment I found on the Jubilee Cricut cartridge was perfect for this card. To personalize the card, Emily's name was added using letters from the same Cricut cartridge. The digi stamp from Papercraftingworld.com was colored in Photoshop and transfered to the Cameo.  There it was finished using the print and cut feature.

-Recipe-
Jubilee Cricut Cartridge- "EMILY," "You Rock," Stars
Papercraftingworld.com-  Little girl digi stamp
Swiss Dots Cuttlebug Embossing Folder
Ink

Emily is the recipient of the "I Feel the Love Project" cards for the month of April that I sponsor on my blog. I would be honored if you would consider making a card for Emily this month.

This is the card I made for Patty. I just loved this adorable cutting file from Papercraftingworld.com. In order to really make it pop, the edges of the paper were all inked prior to piecing it all together. Real flowers were added to give it that 3D effect. To let Patty know I am thinking of her, the sentiment was stamped to the card! If you want to send a card to Patty:
