Thank You Allan:)

Welcome to Funky Cards

Good morning everyone! I hope you are having a wonderful summer. It is starting to get hot here:)

I am so happy this morning.  I can only share a sneak preview with you because because my craft room isn't completely organized yet but...my desk is here!!!

So here is the story. Allan, stopped by in June with my uncle for Aaron's graduation party.  I had never met him before.  When he saw my craft room he told me he was impressed with everything I was doing but that using an old kitchen table for a crafting desk was unacceptable!  He asked me to draw plans for my fantasy desk.  I didn't think he was serious or that he would do anything about it.  I had known him for like five minutes.  But I love drawing plans so I designed a desk with two work stations, a third station for the Cricut, lots of small cubbies for supplies, huge cubbies for paper stacks, a cut out on the top of the desk to slide the trash straight in, and a cubby unit right next to the Cricut station that holds the Cricut cartridges.  The table is 5 1/2' x 6'.  I sent Allan my plans with a prototype I made out of foam. 18 days later I have a beautiful desk!  It looks exactly like my drawing.  Thank you so much Allan.  You ROCK!!!! It is amazing:)

Keep watching.  More to come.

Cooking With Cricut: Cow Challenge

Welcome To Funky Cards and
Cooking With Cricut-
Cow Challenge

Thank you for stopping by today to check out this week's challenge.  In honor of June being National Dairy month, we are creating projects that include a cow, or projects that are black and white with a little bit of another color.

I love making cards with cows since they are so cute, so I designed and created a fun thank you card for this week's challenge.

Using the Create a Critter Cricut cartridge, I cut out the cow, barn, and grass.  The barn was embossed with a Sizzix dots embossing folder.  I added the sentiment "Moo-chas Gracias" and several gems and my card was complete.

Please be sure to visit the Cooking With Cricut blog to see what the other design team members have cooked up for you. You have until next Tuesday to enter this week's challenge for a chance to win a fabulous prize. Click HERE to enter.

Have a wonderful week!

Wall Hanging

Welcome to Funky Cards and

Each Monday Alex, at You Had Me at Craft, will be having a "Linking Party." All you need to do is link something to her blog that you made yourself.

"Post ANYTHING CREATIVE that you made yourself.  Did you sew? garden? paint? create home decor? make jewelry, use vinyl? color? quilt? papercraft? knit? crochet? bake? cook? WHATEVER !"

I am in the middle of redoing my craft room and I wanted to make something new to hang on the walls.  Of course it had to be handmade and free!!

I used the Forever Young Cricut cartridge to cut out these figures and attach them to white card stock.  I put them behind glass to make one big wall hanging.

It might be hard to tell in this picture, but the frames surrounding the wall hanging are made completely from paper scraps.  I tore my scraps into strips and laid them on top of each other.  No tape, no glue... just put the glass back on top and hung the frame.

I custom designed my desk and it is being built.  More about that later.  You don't want to miss that story.  That is all for now.  Happy crafting:)

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Birthday

Welcome to Funky Cards

Now that school is over I am having a blast spending more time each day designing and creating cards for my upcoming craft show.  Here is another birthday card I made which most likely would be bought for a special birthday boy.

I used one of my favorite Cricut cartridges, Robotz, to create this adorable robot dog:)  I love blue and green together and I was happy with how this card turned out.

I hope you all have been able to enjoy your summer crafting time.  Keep watching this blog.  I will be announcing the July recipient of the "I Feel the Love Project" cards on July 2nd.  I will be participating in a blog hop on July 1st and I want to make sure that the posts are separate.  More information on that in just a few short days.

An Update from Ms. Pentoney

Welcome to Funky Cards

June recipient- Jill Pentoney

Here is a recent entry from Ms. Pentone's blog-  Friday June 17th
"Thanks to everyone for all of the words of love and encouragement yesterday. You have no idea how much it helps me. After much soul searching and discussion with Casey, I have decided to stop the radiation treatment. I accomplished 15 treatments, and it's enough. I feel like it's counterproductive to do this much damage to my immune system, let alone the damage the radiation is doing otherwise. I haven't had a treatment for a week, and today I feel as bad as ever. It took two full weeks before I felt OK when I took a break from this, so I have about a week to go. I feel I need to spend the summer building up my immune system, juicing, practicing yoga and just generally taking care of myself. This decision has eased my mind and my spirit."

Ms. Pentoney stopped treatment because it was making her too sick. She has an appointment with her doctors this week to check on her numbers. Please keep her in your prayers. In her own words, words of love and encouragement are what keep her going. We are down to 9 days this month for making and sending cards. I really want to be able to bring Ms. Pentoney as many cards as I can.  Please consider making just one:)  Thank you so much!

Each Monday Alex, at You Had Me at Craft, will be having a "Linking Party." All you need to do is link something to her blog that you made yourself.

I will be sharing this card on the Made It Myself Mondays linking party.

Cooking With Cricut: Father's Day

Welcome To Funky Cards and
Cooking With Cricut-
Father's Day

Thank you for stopping by today to check out this week's challenge.  We are cooking up projects this week for the dad's in our lives.

My mom wanted a framed photo project to give to her dad, my Grandpa Paul, for Father's Day.  I took pictures of my brothers and me and used the Pooh Font Set Cricut cartridge to cut out our names and the year to create this wall hanging.  I added patterned paper behind the photos for a bit of interest.

We don't get to see Grandpa Paul very often so it is always nice to make gifts that include pictures.

Please be sure to visit the Cooking With Cricut blog to see what the other design team members have cooked up for you. You have until next Tuesday to enter this week's challenge for a chance to win a fabulous prize. Click HERE to enter.

Have a wonderful week!
