Disney Pixar Blog Hop- Day 1

Welcome to Funky Cards
Disney Pixar Blog Hop

If you arrived from Lori's blog you are in the right place. If not, you may want to hop right back to Shawn's blog so that you do not miss any of the fabulous Disney Pixar projects.

My project was inspired by all the recent happenings in the news. As you know, there seem to be a lot of tragic events occurring lately. I was inspired to create a piece of art that could be used not only as a decoration in a child's room, but as a teaching tool. Each day of the week holds a new Bible verse. These verses can be switched out at the end of the week for new ones so that the child can learn many new verses.

Each morning before school or every night before bedtime, I believe it would be a wonderful experience to sit down with a child and read a Bible verse together. I know not everyone shares my views, so keep in mind that you can also use this for other ideas such as things you are going to do each day, positive thoughts for the day, or whatever other ideas you can come up with.

This would look adorable hanging in a Disney themed nursery or child's room.  The Pooh and his friends that adorn the wall hanging were cut from the Pooh Font Set Cricut cartridge.

Each day of the week was cut and embossed with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder.  The edges were inked to make them pop a bit.

All of the characters were also inked to give them a bit more character as well.

Ribbon was added to each card to finish it off.

The Bible verses were made using the Cameo print and cut feature. The verses were kept short so that they are easier for the child to memorize.

Once the entire project was finished I added a piece of ribbon so that it could be hung on the wall.  This was a really cool project to make.  I hope I have inspired someone today to make something like this for their child or grandchild.

I am the last stop on the hop today, but this is a two day adventure!!  Be sure to head back to Shawn's blog tomorrow morning for Day 2 of this amazing journey through Disney Pixar projects.  Everything will be new thus there will be more projects to inspire you!!

Here is a list of the participants who inspired you today.
Please feel free to hop backwards or forwards!!

 Thanks for stopping by.

Craft with Cutters Challenge #116

This week the ladies at My Paper Crafting World are joining the I feel the Love Project to create Valentine's Day cards for the sweet children who survived the horrific shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School due to the selfless actions of their teacher, Ms. Victoria Soto.  Ms. Soto hid her students in the classroom to save their lives.  It is these very children that we are honoring with our cards.  The 1st graders who lost their teacher and classmates and must now live with the memories of that event.  To learn more about the I Feel the Love Project, you can click HERE.

This sweet card was made using the Create a Critter Cricut cartridge.  The card says "love" with two hearts.  The message is clear and I believe simply stated.  I love how this card turned out and I think it is just perfect for a 1st grader:)

Join us this week.  I know you will be happy you did.

Craft with Cutters Challenge #115
Snowflakes

This week the ladies at My Paper Crafting World are creating snowflakes to honor those who lost their lives during the tragedy at Sandy Hook.  I chose to create six, six" snowflakes to hang in my craft room so that I can look at them everyday and remember to pray for all of the people whose lives were impacted on 12.14.12.

Six, six" snowflakes were cut using the Accent Essentials and Winter Woodland Cricut cartridges.

The snowflakes were inked using a foam
brush to add a bit of pop and interest.

Gold glittered was layered on next for some sparkle!!

Finally, they were ready to be hung in the craft
room where they can sparkle and shine in
memory of 26 wonderful people!

Please be sure to visit the My Paper Craft World blog to see all the other snowflake themed projects the design team members have created for you this week. I Feel the Love Project- January 2013

Welcome to Funky Cards

In loving memory, the I feel the Love Project would like to pay tribute to Victoria Leigh Soto (Vicki), a first grade teacher at Sandy Hook Elementary. She lost her life on 12.14.12, but six or seven (still to be confirmed) students in her classroom survived that day because of her selfless actions. It is those students that we will be making cards for this month. They are not to be forgotten. They too have suffered a tremendous loss and have experienced a tragedy that will forever change their lives. We will be making Valentine's Day cards/cards with hearts on them for these wonderful kids. All projects should be colorful and uplifting. These children are all first grade students.

In addition, we will be collecting cards for Ms. Soto's family. These can be pretty blank cards, thinking of you cards, or any appropriate, uplifting cards that one would send to a family member after a loss. Please be sure to sign your cards. Ms. Soto's family members include her mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Soto (Carlos and Donna); her sisters, Jillian and Carlee; and her brother, Carlos Matthew. Among Ms. Soto's favorite things are the color green and flamingos.

If you would like to be a part of this project...

All you need to do is:

Submit your card/s by January 31st to:
