I am totally feeling the Love!!

Welcome to Funky Cards
I am totally feeling the love!!

How often do you go to the mail box and receive mail from Africa and Australia in the same day?

A couple of weeks ago I received cards from Ms. Susan from Africa and Ms. Carla from Australia on the same day.  I was super excited.
Ms. Susan's card traveled over 9600 miles and arrived in time for Ethan's 2nd birthday!

Carla's cards traveled over 7800 miles and are part of the November/December "I Feel the Love Project."

I Feel The Love November/December

In loving memory of Korrine Lannie Croghan
4/18/94 - 10/27/08

The Pediatric Oncology Unit at Kaiser Hospital (Oakland, CA)
will be the recipient of our handcrafted CHRISTMAS cards for the months of November/December.

Susan and Carla, thank you so much for being a part of the "I Feel the Love Project."  You are amazing women.  I feel so blessed to have women from other parts of the world reach out and join us!  You can't imagine how high I jumped when I saw the mail!!!

There are now over 4o loving, caring, and compassionate crafters who have been a part of this project.  I am excited to watch it grow.  Anyone can participate.  You don't have to have a Cricut.  Your cards just have to be handmade.  So if you are part of a community group, service group, girl scout group... and are looking for a monthly project, please consider joining us:)

You can review all the past projects by clicking HERE and scrolling down all the posts.

Thank you so much for stopping by today.

Christmas Ornament Swap

Welcome to Funky Cards

Sarah, from Pink Cricut, has organized a Christmas ornament swap and today I want to share with you the ornament that I made to share with my swap partner.  I have not heard from my partner yet so I hope she received it in one piece.  I won't reveal her name, but there is obviously a clue here.  You can see I personalized the ornament with her initial:)

After painting the ornament blue, a flower die cut was added, as well as a paper flower.  The other side of the ornament has a snowflake.  I thought I had a good picture of this, but the picture did not turn out.

Texture/Thank You Challenges

Welcome To Funky Cards
Texture/Thank You Challenges

This week at Whimsical Designs: Whimsical Wednesday Challenge, the challenge is all about texture.  Each project has to include texture of some kind.  As you will see, my cards included embossing using a Cuttlebug folder.

This week at Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog (FCCB), the challenge was to create a thank you project.  This was perfect timing for me.  I just received an order to make thank you cards for a Boy Scout who just completed his Eagle Scout project and needs to send out thank you cards.  This was a custom order and I would like to share with you today what I designed.

I was told that since Jack is still a Boy Scout until the project is approved, the appropriate colors for these cards are olive green and gold.  Once he becomes an Eagle Scout, the colors would be red, white, and blue.  The Boy Scout emblem was designed using the Accents and Stand and Salute Cricut cartridges.

I also made some of the cards without the "thank you" leaving them as blanks.  They could then be used for any occasion.

 Recipe:
Stand and Salute Cricut Cartridge- Eagle, Banner
Cupcake Lite Cricut Cartridge- "Thank You"
Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Embossing Folder
Accents Cricut Cartridge- Emblem

I Feel The Love- Hub Group Cards:)

Welcome to Funky Cards
Making cards for Christmas
I had the best time this weekend with my Hub Group:) For those of you who just said to yourself, "What is a Hub Group?" let me tell you.  After our youth group once a week, we split up into small groups of around 6-10 students of the same grade and gender.  This is where we discuss the message and pray for one another.

This weekend, our church put on a youth conference called Awaken for the students ranging from seventh graders to seniors in high school.  Awaken is a movement of people passionate to see the things of God invade the places and people of our city. We yearn to have the presence of God transform our lives and communities as we seek the presence of God through fervent worship and through loving the poor and needy in the name of Jesus Christ. God desires to AWAKEN our city to the saving hope that exists through Jesus Christ.  God is not awakening a program, but a movement.

The event took place over two days.  The first night when we were back at our leader's house, my Hub Group and I made Christmas cards for the "I Feel the Love Project!"  I was so excited that they chose to participate in this project.  I wanted to make sure to post their cards:)  Here is a reminder of where our cards are going along with a photo of all of the cards we made!!
