Welcome to Funky Cards
30 Days of Handmade Gift Giving Blog Hop- Day 14
Thank you to Jill, The Scrapoholic, who once again decided to host the "30 days of Handmade Gift Giving Blog Hop. Each day the participant will be sharing with you a handmade gift idea or holiday decoration, along with a tutorial, to inspire you:)
Today is Day 14 of the hop and I am sharing a funky wall hanging that can be made with the following objects: driftwood, clay, cooper wire, and paint.
This is one of my favorite Bible verses: Philippians 4:13
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
The possibilities of this gift are endless. You could make this for a friend using any Bible verse or even make it with their name:) It would be great to hang in their room! It looks really great hanging in my room with my slime green walls but I couldn't get a bright enough picture to show you. I should have my camera back by Monday!!!
How did I do it?
*The top is a piece of driftwood. This can be FREE! I found mine on a walk at school.
*To make the letters and/or numbers, find a Cricut font cartridge that you like and cut the letters and/or numbers that you will need to the height of your desire.
*Roll out the clay to the thickness of a ruler and place the clay on the cut out letters and/or numbers.
*Trace around the letters and/or numbers with a paper clip so you have a guide to use when cutting the clay. Cut out the clay with a cutting blade or knife.
*Follow the directions and bake the letters and/or numbers, depending on what you are making. Make sure to poke a hole in the clay for the wire so that you will be able to poke the wire through later.
*Paint as desired.
*Wrap a thinner piece of copper wire around a heavier copper wire so that you end up with a twisted effect for the thinner piece. Cut the thinner piece of wire to the desired length, depending on how long you want it to hang. Make sure you cut it long enough allowing extra wire to wrap around the driftwood.
*Secure the copper wire pieces around the driftwood at the top. Repeat until all your pieces are complete.
*Add the letters and/or numbers to the wire by poking the wire through the holes and twisting the wire securely in place.
Have fun!! If you make something like this, please send me a picture and I will post it on my blog:)
Happy Holidays:) Make sure you check out Jill's blog tomorrow to see who is going to inspire you with a project for Day 15, or to check back and see what you may have missed for Days 1-13:)

Madison,
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool idea. I love that scripture verse too. My favorite verse is Proverb 3: 5 & 6
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths. Thanks for sharing.
