My Cricut Craft Room- Card Creating Tuesdays

Welcome to Funky Cards and
 Card Creating Tuesdays

Good morning and welcome back to My Cricut Craft Room Card Creating Tuesdays.  I hope to inspire you with my work today and to encourage you to try something new! As you know, each week I will be sharing with you new cards that I have designed and adding a new tip that I have learned along the way.

My cousin Alyssa just started Junior High School last week and yesterday she celebrated her 12th birthday!!  What an exciting time for my sweet cousin.  Today I want to share the birthday card I made for her.

Happy 12th Birthday Alyssa!  Have an awesome time at your new school!  We love you very much.

Recipe:
Martha Stewart Scalloped Border Punch
Kate's ABC's Cricut Cartridge- Little girl
Googly Eye
Butterflies
Pink Ink
Gel Pens
Ribbon
Flower
Pearls

Tip of the Day:
Last week we looked at how we could take a simple die cut and have it pop off the page by embossing it and adding a few embellishments.  Click HERE if you missed last week's post.  Today I wanted to show you what you could do if you have problems getting punches to work with thin paper.

Have you ever tried to punch thin paper and have it rip?  It can be so frustrating!!!  Well, there is no need get mad or throw your punch away or even have to buy a new one.  I have a simple solution for you.

Place a piece of thick card stock (maybe a color you don't use much or scrap you may have hanging around) on top of the piece you are going to punch.  Make sure to line them up so they match perfectly before you begin.

When you are finished, you will have a perfect punch with no rips or tears!  Remember, the thin paper goes on the bottom.

On the left you can see the punch created with the card stock placed over the thin paper and on the right you can see the punch created with the thin paper alone.

No need to waste any more paper!! I love being able to punch pretty patterned paper.  I hope this helps!!

If you have any tips that you would like me to cover, leave me a comment and I will do my best to help you:)

Thank you for stopping by!  Be sure to stop by My Cricut Craft Room to see what the other Design Team members have in store for you today at Card Creating Tuesdays:)

  10. Awesome tip! I've ruined paper because it was too thin and got messed up. I thought it was the punch itself. I'll have to try this!

  11. I have been admiring your cards. When I saw how young you are, I am even more impressed with your creative ability. I admire you for your card project. When I get the chance, I will try to send you a card to use. My dad has been in and out of the hospital since April. He has a lot of medical problems and he would have enjoyed cards like this. He is 82 and currently in a rehab facility while taking dialysis 3x a week. When I make him a new card he loves to show it off. Keep up the good work. Peggy
