Welcome to Funky Cards and
Good morning and welcome back to My Cricut Craft Room Card Creating Tuesdays. I hope to inspire you with my work today and to encourage you to try something new! As you know, each week I will be sharing with you new cards that I have designed and adding a few tips that I have learned along the way.
This week I wanted to share with you a card I made for a special 5 year-old boy named Will. Will is the younger brother of Kate McRae. Kate and her family are the recipient's of our "I Feel the Love Project" cards for the month of August. If you would like to learn more about this project, please click on Will's card or the link listed above for all the information.
I always start with picking out my colors. I knew I wanted browns and oranges with a bit of green. I try to stay away from primary green. It is just my style. You can see the green is kind of vibrant and fun! The cute little guy was cute at 3 3/4" from the Robotz Cricut cartridge. The words "Will Rocks" were cut at 3/4" using the Pooh Font Set Cricut cartridge. The Martha Stewart Scalloped Border punch added a bit of interest at the bottom:)
Tip of the Day:
I thought I would show you a before and after of the Robotz die cut and let you see how much added interest there is just by spending an extra couple of minutes before you put him on the card:)
Here is what the Robot looks like right after you glue all the pieces together. This is the BEFORE...
Now, just less than five minutes later he looks like this! The Robot has been run through the Cuttlebug to emboss the paper. The paper eyes have been replaced with googly eyes. Using just one brown gel pen, small stitching has been added around the entire little guy and two little pearls have become his little buttons. This is the AFTER.
It is really easy to make your die cuts jump off the page just a little bit more by adding... just a little bit more!!
Thank you for stopping by! Be sure to stop by My Cricut Craft Room to see what the other Design Team members have in store for you today at Card Creating Tuesdays:)
