I Felt Like Painting

Welcome to Funky Cards

Today is the last day of our I Feel the Love Thank You Party. Be sure to add your previously linked cards to the June collection in order to be eligible for one of our many thank you gifts.  I see that there are already 100 cards in our June collection.

Yesterday I really felt like painting.  My paintings typically start with a sketch.  So I got out my sketch pad and drew the scene that had been playing around in my head.

Next I set up a painting station in the dining room.  This canvas was rather large so I didn't want to paint on my craft table.

I started with the background using a mixture of three different greens and shimmery gold paint.

Using a combination of paints creates shadows and movement on the canvas.

Using vinyl, the words for the canvas were cut out to create a stencil.  The vinyl is sticky so when you are painting, the  paint doesn't get underneath the letters or image you are creating.    A stencil like font was used so that I did'nt need to worry about the inside of the letter.

Here is a picture of the stencil on the canvas waiting to be painted.

Now you can see that the background will be mountains and sky with a Bible verse to the side.

The end result, a sailor paying his resects to others who have lost their lives while trying to save ours.

Have a wonderful day!
