Welcome to Funky Cards &
Gaby's Earth Day - Birthday Celebration!
I want to wish Gaby a very Happy Birthday:) She is one of the nicest, sweetest, crafting friends I know and I pray she has the best birthday ever!! If you found your way here by chance you can head back to Gaby's blog and start at the beginning of this hop- Click HERE. If you just came from Daily Grace Creations you are in the right place.
Gaby loves GREEN so I made her this green easel birthday card:)
It was really hard to photograph for some reason.
It says Happy Birthday and there is a place to write my special note just on the cream colored paper:) For those of you who have never made an easel card they are fun and easy to do. Just click HERE and check out this simple tutorial.
My Earth Day project is made of materials I had left over from other projects and events including my Winter Formal. I don't like to toss things out just in case I may need them for a project one day. I love to recycle and this project is a perfect example of how I like to help "Save Planet Earth" by recycling and using things instead of tossing them into the trash.
I like how this wall art came together. There are recycled buttons, tulle that I had left from my place setting at Winter Formal, a Bible verse written on torn and inked paper, and a bird cut from scraps. No shopping involved. The backing is an old paining. It is a thin canvas that I had. I painted it all black (I love painting things). I added the background paper and then embellished.
To achieve these chunky looking letters, I used the Robotz Cricut cartridge. I added a shadow and inked the edges. I popped them up for the added dimension.
My favorite part is the Bible verse. It was hard to photograph it so that you could see all of it. I tore the edges of the paper and inked it so it would look distressed. I added buttons to two corners.
Here's a closer look.
