On The Tenth Day of Christmas ...

My true love gave to me…

10 awesome gift cards in handmade, creatively adorned gift tagsJ

Welcome to the "15 Days of Christmas Blog Hop" sponsored by KinderStampO. If you arrived from Liz' blog (Day 9) you are in the right place. If not, you may want to start at the beginning with Day 1 at Jess' blog.

Gift cards are a hot item at Christmas time and often times we just don’t know how to wrap them or what to do with them. Do we put them in a Christmas card or in a gift box? Well, here is one idea that is fun and just plain adorable. Gift tagsJ Each gift tag is decorated to specifically match the theme of the gift card. Since this is Day 10 of the 15 Days of Christmas, there are 10 different gift tags with 10 different gift cards! I have tried to include something for everyone in the family:) I hope I have inspired you. Let me know what you think.

I just want you to know that these were hard to scan because they don't lay flat and are much easier to read and are clearer when you look at them in person:)

Your young kids may want to head to a sporting goods store or a craft store (take mom). These two tags would come in very handy if you buy gift cards with these ideas in mind. (Hard to read on screen but the one on the left says "score" in red and the one on the right says "create" in green).
How about treating someone to a movie and then a burger? You could use these two gift card tags to hold gift cards for those two ideas:) Good idea for a teenage guy!
Ok, and what teenage girl wouldn't like a gift card from a cosmetics company and a clothing store! These would work great! Fresh and Glam:)
Do you need something for those college kids? How about a gift card to a bookstore and a prepaid gas card. I think they would like that!!
Ok, we can't forget dad and mom. What about a gift card to a home improvement center or to a cafe? That just might put a smile on their faces:) D.I.Y. stands for Do It Yourself. The cafe card says "I Love You A Latte" and "This one's on me!"

Directions:
  1. Cut one tag from chipboard approximately 3"x5" (using deep cut blade). I used the Stand and Salute Cricut cartridge for the tag but any tag will work.
  2. Cut three more tags from cards stock, two of the same color and one of an alternate color (using the regular blade).
  3. Cuttlebug the cardstock tags using your choice of embossing folder.
  4. Cut the card stock tags approximately 1/3 from the top. Your finished project will be 1/3 top color and 2/3 bottom color.
  5. Choose the color you want on the top of the front and glue it down. Choose the alternate color for the back front and glue it down.
  6. Now glue the opposite colors to the bottom front and the bottom back.
  7. At this point you will have one top and one bottom left and they will match the color of the bottom front. The bottom will become the pocket that holds the gift card. The top will not be used.
  8. Next using a good hole punch, punch nine holes around the sides of the tag going through all three layers.
  9. Measure and cut a piece of ribbon that will cover the tag at the point where the two colors come together. Have the ribbon end in the back. Do this for the pocket piece as well.
  10. Put the pocket piece over tag so that the holes that you previously punched can be seen and punch holes in the pocket piece.
  11. Cut nine sets of ribbon (approximately 4-6 inches) and after lining up the pocket piece over the tag begin putting the ribbon through the holes and tying the two pieces together.
  12. Cut all the ribbon to look nice.
  13. Add a ribbon to the end so the the tag can hang.

*** Blog Candy Alert ***

If you leave me a comment and become a follower (if you are not already following) you will be entered into my random drawing for a chance to win a set of three of these gift card holder tags:) I will pick two lucky winners and send you your choice of three tags! Remember to leave me a way to get a hold of you. You have until Monday, July 26th at 10:00 p.m. PST to enter. I will post the winners on my blog on Tuesday, July 27th. Good luck:)

Now make sure to hop on over to Martha's blog to she what she has created for you to represent the 11th Day of Christmas. Trust me, you will not be disappointed! Thanks for stopping by.
