Welcome to Funky Cards
As you know I love redoing the rooms in my house and my bedroom is no exception. I have made over my bedroom once again. Naomi, one of my followers, has cleverly noticed one of the things that I have done that I was going to share with you. Since she asked me about it in a comment, I thought I would share my answer with everyone.
Yes Naomi, that is scrapbook paper on my wall!!
I posted this picture in a post about the body pillow I made for my bed. Naomi looked past the body pillow and saw the scrapbook paper on my wall. This was one of the items I just added in my redo! I love it.
The walls in my room were purple, but I felt like I needed a change. I decided to paint them blue but wanted something different on one wall for added interest. So once they were painted, I added the scrapbook paper to the end wall with the window. This is the focus wall as it is the wall you first see when entering my room. I added hooks so that I could hang my handbags. I love all the different colors and fabrics together.
On the right side of the window, I hung my mannequin. Currently she is wearing the apron I made for her. I didn't have a pattern so I designed this myself.
I also made the headboard for my bed
as well as the curtains.
Directions for hanging scrapbook paper:
- Pick out a variety of scrapbook pages to use for your project.
- Using wallpaper paste that you purchase or make from a recipe that you find online (I made mine from a recipe I found online), lightly saturate the back of one piece of paper starting in the center and working your way out. You can do this with a sponge.
- Place immediately on the wall once the entire paper is covered with paste.
- Continue this process until all the paper is used and your room looks fabulous!!
Please note--- I haven't taken mine off of the wall yet, so I have no idea what the wall will look like once removed. So keep this in mind if you want to try this. You will have to treat your walls to prepare them for the paper!!!!
I am linking this to Link It Up Tuesday with Sarah at Pink Cricut. Come check out all the projects and be inspired. So much talent out there!!
Stay tuned for more of this project
as I show you what else I did in my room:)
Have a fabulous day!

This is a cute idea! My oldest will be going tp college next year and it would look great in a dorm provided we use a product that won't hurt the walls.

ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous idea! Your room looks great!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, Madison! If your walls are drywall (like most of them are these days), it may be best to prime the walls first with wallpaper primer/sealer. This prevents the wallpaper paste from seeping into and adhering to the drywall fibers, so that when you take it down it doesn't gouge the wall itself. The wall can then become a real mess that will either need heavy spackling or replacing to make it like new. Just a little preparation can save oodles of headaches. You really don't want to know how I know this important tip -- ugh -- what can I say, but "experience"?!
ReplyDelete:) Sending Halloween cards soon!!
