Sew What's up with Madison #2
As most of you know, I LOVE to sew. When I design or create a project that I think you might enjoy I will share it with you here on my blog. Maybe it will inspire you to dust off your sewing machine!
-Fun and Funky Ruffle Knit Skirt-
This project started with this fabulous ruffle knit material I bought this summer while we were on our trip to Georgia.
For this project, I decided to use the coral material! I pictured a cute skirt I could pair with a variety of different things I already own.
Other than thread, all I needed was black elastic to finish off the top waist band.
To create this skirt:
- Start by cutting the material and sewing a seem to create a tube approximately 10" bigger than your waist and longer than the desired length.
- Cut a piece of 1.5" wide elastic band that measures around your waist.
- Sew the material to the elastic band carefully gathering the material as you sew.
- Cut the skirt to the desired length. Note that this is a ruffled knit and you can cut under the last ruffle and there won't be a raw edge to sew.
I used a zig zag stitch to sew the elastic band to the tube.
All done. What do you think?
Look for future Sew What's Up With Madison blog posts. I still have more ruffle knit material!!
Thanks for stopping by!
