How Time Flys By

Welcome to Funky Cards

Today I want to share with you my latest Build a Project (BAP) sponsored by Ms. Cheryl of Creative Kuts.  Each week Ms. Cheryl offers a free cutting file of the BAP to those who would like to participate. On Monday you receive the file and you have until Sunday to post the project that you made with the file.  As long as you post your project, you will be eligible for the free file the following week.

This week the free file said, "How Time Flys By" and featured a clock.  I decided to create a canvas and include two pictures of my brother Dalton, one as a baby and one in his Navy uniform.  My mom always says that she can't believe how fast time has gone.  (Click on the photo to enlarge).

Thanks for stopping by today.

Cooking With Cricut Challenge #88- Flowers

Welcome To Funky Cards
Cooking With Cricut-Challenge #88
Flowers

This week at Cooking With Cricut we are creating projects with flowers.  For my project I made three paper flowers and used several pre-made paper flowers.
This is the box I created as blog candy for KIM!!  Kim said I could use any theme I wanted so I surprised her with a pink and brown floral theme.  The flowers were made using the Plantin SchoolBook Cricut cartridge.
Using the "Creative Genius" stamp from My Creative Time, blank card stock was stamped into cute patterned background paper.  KIM's name was added to personalize her box:)
More flowers were added to the back on the adorable cutting file that was found at Papercraftingworld.com.

God Bless our Military

Welcome to Funky Cards

Happy Memorial Day

THANK YOU to all the brave men and women who have served and are currently serving in the armed services. In your honor I created this post to salute you. The little boy was made by finding a coloring page online and using Photoshop to color the image. When complete, the image was transfered to the Cameo. It was given a small offset and finished by using the print and cut feature.

I want to give a special shout out to my brother Dalton today.  I want to say thank you Dalton for serving our country.  We miss you and we can't wait to see you.  You are an awesome sailor big brother.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

Today's PINK card was inspired by my constant need for "Thinking of You" cards.  I like simple, pretty, colorful, and easy to make.  I believe this card is all of those things.  Using the Kate's ABCs Cricut cartridge, three butterflies were cut and embossed to go with this week's PINK theme.

Cooking With Cricut Blogaversary Day 1

Welcome To Funky Cards
Cooking With Cricut Blogaversary Day 1
All Things Girly

The project I designed for you today is a card that I will be using for the "I Feel the Love Project."  When I saw this little girl I knew she would be perfect for an "All Things Girly" card. - click on photo to enlarge -

"You are Super"

-Recipe-
Zooballoo Cricut Cartridge- Tree
Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Embossing Folder
Papercraftingworld.com - QT Patootie Franchesca
K Andrew Designs - Amazing You stamp set

This card was designed to show perspective.  The girl is sitting in the foreground, while the tree is in the background. To accomplish this effect, place the tree off the ground, to the side, and behind the girl.  It will appear that she is not sitting next to the tree but in front of it.  This effect makes your card look bigger than it really is:)  This particular card looks really cool in person.

Original Disney Pixar Blog Hop

Welcome to Funky Cards
Disney Pixar Blog Hop
If you arrived from Tami's blog you are in the right place.  If not, you may want to hop right back to Shawn's blog so that you do not miss any of the fabulous projects.  The Lion King is one of my all time favorite Disney movies.  We got a new puppy in December and we named him Simba:)  For my Disney project I made a Lion King stationary box that you could use as a gift box for someone celebrating a birthday with a Lion King theme. You could put a variety of fun candy inside and a gift card:)  I am sure the birthday boy or girl would be excited.  I would be!

The cutting file for this box can be found at Silhouette America as the box was made using the Cameo.  The image was found online by searching free Disney Lion King Clip Art.  "The Lion King" letters were cut using the Cameo.  An old shoestring serves as the handle.

Of course one of the sides had to say Simba!  The letters were cut using the Disney Pooh Font Set Cricut cartridge.

Timon and Pumba always make me laugh!  Their names and images were cut using the Cameo. They were popped up to add a bit of dimension.

Rafiki!  I love saying his name.  This was also cut using the Disney Pooh Font Set Cricut cartridge.

This Lion King box has a surprise inside! It is a Mickey and Friends counting book! All the clip art that you will see in this book was free clip art and did not violate any copy write laws. It is always important to read all copy write notices before downloading any images.

The book was assembled with a Bind It all.  All the words  and offsets were created using the Cameo.

Just a little bit of doodling with a white gel pen was added to each page.  Some was done on the page itself and some was added to the numbers and letters.

This was a really fun project.  It always makes me smile to work with Disney characters.  It also makes me smile to give away blog candy.  So here is the deal.  You give me a theme, and I will make a box for you like the Lion King box!  All you have to do to be eligible for this prize is be a follower of my blog, leave me a comment on this post with the theme of the box that you would want me to make for you.

It can be anything (as long as it is appropriate...I am only 17!)  I will be announcing the winner on Wednesday May 23 at the end of my post.  You will have one week to claim your prize by contacting me at Funkycards @ charter dot net (no spaces).

Cooking With Cricut-Challenge #86
Card Outreach

This week at Cooking With Cricut we are making cards for the I Feel The Love Project.
Brandon :)
For more information, click on Brandon's photo.

Brandon's card was made from the Create A Critter Cricut Cartridge using the Dalmatian Cricut cut. I thought he would like a cute puppy on his card to cheer him up! The edges of the puppy were inked to help him pop off the card. In addition, the background was embossed to give it a little flare.

Happy Birthday Mom

Welcome to Funky Cards

Today I was asked to be the Guest Designer on
Inking It Up Crazy with: Kassidy

Thank you Kassidy for letting me share my project with your followers today.  It was really a special treat for me!

Today I will be sharing with you a special treat I made for my mom.  Her birthday is this weekend, but I decided to surprise her and share this treat with her a few days early.  For those of you who don't know, my mom is gluten intolerant and eats gluten free.  I wanted to combine her lack of "fun" treats with this project and create a cool idea that I could share with you today.

Happy Birthday Mom

I created a treat box and gift tag. The box is filled with homemade gluten free blueberry scones:)  My mom LOVED these as much as I loved making them for her.  This project is easy to do.  You can see how a container like this can be filled with so many different treats and covered with so many different kinds of paper.  The possibilities are endless.

The cutting file came with stripes and a popcorn logo, which I eliminated. I did not need them for this project.  All the measurements were predetermined with the file I purchased at Silhouette America.  For this project I cut the file out of white card stock first and again out of patterned paper.  I wanted it to be nice and sturdy so that it would hold my treats.  Thus, the finished project is two layers.

This is how it looks when it is cut.  Only one file could be cut at a time using the card stock since the paper is 8.5" x 11".  The sides and bottom are already perforated.

The patterned paper cuts nicely two on a page since I used a 12" x 12" piece of paper.  I found that using a Cricut mat works really well in my Cameo.

This is much easier to read in person.  Sorry I couldn't get a good photo.  You can see that ideas for creating a tag include adding a shadow, embossing the background, adding some flowers, adding your sentiment and perhaps some doodling.

Tutorial
  1. Using the Cameo, cut popcorn box file x 4 out of white card stock.
  2. Repeat using patterned paper.
  3. Adhere the patterned paper to the white card stock.
  4. Assemble the popcorn box.
  5. Tie a bow around the center of the box.
  6. Create a tag with a shadow using any Cricut cartridge or cutting file.
  7. Add sentiment and embellishments to the front.
  8. Tie the tag to the popcorn box.
  9. Fill the popcorn box with treats.
I will be linking this up to Sarah Hamers Designs-

Sunshine Lollipops Rainbows Blog Hop

Welcome to Funky Cards
Sunshine Lollipops Rainbows Blog Hop
If you arrived from Court's blog, you are in the right place.  If not, you may want to head back to the beginning to Emma's blog so you don't miss any of today's projects.

Today's blog hop will be featuring sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows, inspired by the song written by Lesley Gore.

I have made a card and two corner bookmarks for a sweet young guy named Brandon. You can read more about his story by clicking HERE.

The card features the rainbow, while the corner bookmarks have a lollipop and sun:)

The cutting file is available through Silhouette America.  It was cut on the Cameo with a small offset or shadow.  The sentiment is from the "Amazing You" stamp set offered through K Andrew Designs.

These images were located by searching the internet for free clip art.  It is always important to make sure you are not using an image that is copy write protected.

Once located, the images were imported to the Cameo program so they could be printed and cut.

As you may know by now, it is also Emma's birthday today.  Of course, I also made a birthday card for Emma.  Thank you for including me in your birthday blog hop Emma.

Happy Birthday Emma!!

The cutting file can be found at Papercraftingworld.com.

**Birthday Blog Candy**

Mother's Day Project

Welcome to Funky Cards

I had a great time last night at a Ustream hosted by Ms. Cheryl from Creative Kuts.  She was sweet enough to give away a free cutting file to those who planned to attend the Ustream.   Here is the cutting file.  Ms. Cheryl explained how to use cutting files and showed us what she made using this one.

I want to share with you today the project that I made.  I am having fun combing cutting files using the Cameo with Cricut cuts.  For this project I used the Pooh Font Set Cricut cartridge to cut the numbers for the year "2012."

This is a stationary box that I am using as a treat box to hold homemade Biscotti.  My mom is giving this to her mom for Mother's Day so it was made with a teal blue and pink, Grammy's favorite colors. The Biscotti will be wrapped nicely so that once they are gone, the box can then be used for cards or whatever my Grammy would like.

To add a bit of pop to the paper piecing, I added paper flowers to the girl's hat and basket.  All of the colored card stock was inked prior to adhering the pieces to the project.  This also gives the project more life.  I like to use ink that is a shade or two darker than the paper.

The back has a quote about moms.  There was a space for my mom to sign the project for her mom.

The sides were used to wrap the ribbon.  Flower embellishments were added.

I am linking this to:

I hope you enjoyed my project.  If you would like to learn more about Creative Kuts, check out the Creative Kuts Blog.
