Funky, Fresh Earrings

How to Use a Cricut and a Cuttlebug to Make a Pair of Earrings:
Recently I participated in a blog challenge and was asked to make wearable art using the Cuttlebug. Well, after much consideration, I came up with Paper Earrings:) They were easy to make and I think they turned out really adorable! I created this tutorial so that you could make them too:) I hope this inspires you to make a pair or two yourself.

Directions:
Decide on the design/shape/color, etc. you would like to create. I chose to create round earrings using two colors. I wanted a cut out effect so with the help of my Cricut Expression and Gypsy, I designed these. If you do not have a Gypsy of Design Studio you can still use your Cricut to create earrings using a circle cut and punches to punch out your smaller circles for added design. I used the beach ball from the Create a Critter Cricut cartridge to design these earrings.

I chose light and dark pink paper for this project. The large light pink circle (the bottom layer) measures 2.6 inches. You will need to cut two of these. The dark pink large circle (top layer) also measures 2.6 inches. The inner circles on the dark pink circle measure 1.34 inches and the smallest circles measure .31 inches. You will also need to cut two of these. Of course if you want to make your earrings bigger or smaller just adjust your measurements accordingly.

Now place the paper on the mat to correspond with the design you created on the Gypsy and cut them out.
Run the cut pieces through the Cuttlebug.

I chose to use the Swiss Dots embossing folder for the top layer of the earrings...

and the Cuttlebug Spots and Dots embossing folder for the bottom layer.

The two pieces are now ready to assemble. I used double-sided tape and Zig 2 Way Glue to attach the top and bottom layers of the earrings.

For the final step, poke a small hole at the top of each earring using a needle and attach the earrings to the jump ring.
When you are finished the earrings look like this!!
Here is another idea sample of what you could create. The ideas are endless. I would love to see what you come up with. If you make a pair let me know! Leave me a comment with your blog address or post a picture on my Face Book Page (Funky Cards Fan Page).
Thank you for stopping by and letting me share my project with you:) Enjoy your day!
