Christmas Card Gift Tag

Tis The Season...

Well not quite, but it is time to start thinking about a unique and creative way to give out your gift cards this year:) How about a fun gift tag that doubles as a Christmas tree ornament? I designed this tag for a lady who works with my dad. She wanted Christmas gift tags that could hold gift cards and this is one I just finished making. It says "Tis the Season" and "Joy."

In the pictures you can see the gift card peaking out below the sentiment.

I started with chipboard. The next layer (on front) is pink on the bottom and tan on top. It is just the opposite on the back. I added a third layer which is a pocket (also pink) for the card to sit in.

This layer just goes half way up the front of the tag. It is held in place with ribbon. The ribbon is tied together through holes that have been punched with a small hole punch.

My Fans on my Funky Cards Face Book Page Challenged me to make a card for myself saying congratulations on being chosen as Co-Captain of my volleyball team. It was a challenge making a card for myself! They said it was a card to me from them (and you). I decided to make this an interactive card. Now for the fun part.

Hot Tropical Card

Fantabulous Cricut Blog Challenge #24

My Tropical Tri-Fold

This week the FCCB Challenge was to make a tropical card or project. I chose to make a tri-fold card because they are so pretty and so much fun:) My card is for a friend who needs cheering up:) It says. "Hang in There" and features a Create a Critter Cricut monkey on the front cover:) Each panel has tropical paper and a friend theme. I added a place to journal or add a note to my friend on the last panel.

This is how the card looks when it is closed and ready to go inside the envelope. It fits inside the same envelope as the rest of my cards:)

On all the panels I added details such as this brach for the bird to stand on and little dots of gel pen to give it a pop of color. I really like this card and I think it would be fun to get this in the mail! What do you think?

Wild And Free

The Scrapoholic FB Challenge

The name of this challenge was "Nothing But Boys, Wild & Free." I took a bit of a twist on this challenge as you can see. My inspiration was my brother Dalton who will be leaving soon for the Navy. He always talks about what an adventure this will be. I am so proud of him!!!! I did not want to be disrespectful to the women who serve in the military so even though the challenge was for the boys, I included a woman on my card. And of course they are fighting for our FREEDOM:)

M is for MADISON

Why so special you ask?

Well take a look.... It isn't just any M...

It's a magnetic M! This was cut from magnetic paper and can be used as a refrigerator magnet:) Great project for back to school! Don't you mom's love hanging your kids' artwork on the fridge? My mom did and still does:) Since I haven't started school yet I decided to hang one of my Honors English journals from Freshman year because I used the Cricut to make the cover:)

It was easy to cut this paper using the deep cut blade. The "M" stands 2" tall and was cut using the Plantin SchoolBook Cricut cartridge and the Roly Poly font. I had never even seen magnet paper before and my friend Linda gave me some to try. I liked it!! I added some gems and a flower for decoration:) Now I must look to see where one buys this:)

Cuttlebug Challenge: Book Related

Book Store Gift Card Tag Holder

This week the challenge at the Cuttlebug website was to make a project that had to do with books:) I designed a tag that could be used as a gift card holder! When you want to bling up the package for your gift card and make it look extra cute how about putting it in a tag like this?

I cut the first layer of the tag out of chipboard. The next layer is blue on the bottom and brown on top on front and just the opposite on the back. All these pieces are embossed with the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug Embossing Folder. I cut an extra bottom blue piece of the tag to make a pocket for the gift card (on the front). It is attached with the ribbon:) I punched nine holes and used two colors of ribbon to hold the pocket in place.

The girl is holding her favorite book, "Funky Projects," by Madison Womack! Great book...someday! She is 4" tall and was cut from the Everyday Paper Dolls Cricut cartridge, as was her book.

Baby Boy Onesie

Funky Cards Fan Page FRIDAY Challenge- Shape Card

My fans at my FaceBook Funky Cards Fan Page challenged me this week to make a "shape" card. This was fun. I think I have only done one shape card before. I had no idea what I was going to do. I know I need baby cards for my upcoming craft show so I decided to make a onesie. I made this into a baby boy card. The cut out is 4.75" tall and was cut from the Wall Decor and More Cricut cartridge. I cut two images and inverted one so that they could be welded together on the Gypsy. The card opens at the shoulders. The sheep is cut from the Create a Critter Cricut cartridge and the "Baby Boy" is cut from the Zooballoo Cricut cartridge. The Swirl Cuttlebug Embossing Folder was used for the background. I added some gems to bling it up! Hope you like it.

The Great Outdoors

FCCB Challenge #23- The Great Outdoors

My inspiration: My trip to "The Cabin."

This challenge was all about the great outdoors. At the beginning of this month I went on a trip with several of my closest friends to "The Cabin" and we had a blast. As you can see, we hiked, swam, played mini golf, went bowling, and watched an outdoor movie:) This is the layout I created for my pictures.

For the title I used the Zooballoo Cricut cartridge and welded tiny cabins into the words.

I stitched around the borders of the photo frames and the cut outs to make the colors pop a bit:)

The golf green was cut from the Everyday Paper Doll Cricut cartridge and the movie ticket was cut from the Summer Vacation Cricut cartridge. The picture of the cabin on the first page has all the names of my friends who were on the trip. It was made using the Paint Program on my PC.

ALMOST TO 200:)

Wow, when I started my blog in November I never thought I would have 186 awesome followers nine months later! I am so grateful to all of you who have followed me and have left such wonderful comments. As you know, I am a high school student who has dreams of becoming a designer one day and having a blog is such a great experience. I have learned so much from all of you. Everyday I learn something new and I look forward to what is still to come:)

Baby Boy Waterfall Card

The Scrapoholic FB Challenge- Waterfall Card: Baby Boy

The color on these photos is really bad! The paper is really a pretty blue! All the paper matches and looks really nice in person. I am not sure what happened:( Anyway.....

This was my first attempt at making a waterfall card. I followed the tutorial that Jill the Scrapoholic made for us when she posted her challenge. If you want to see how to make this card click HERE.

The card has four separate little panels and is made so that when you pull the tab you can see all the different panels. I decided to use a combination of stamps and Cuttlebug Embossing Folders for my panels.

This is a stamp that I used and added a gel pen design to the card stock after I stamped.

Here I used a Cuttlebug Embossing Folder and then added stitching and a few dots of gel pen for added interest.

This is the pull tab at the bottom of the card. I hand wrote "Welcome" in gel pen above the pull tab. If you think you want to try making a waterfall card, please visit The Scrapoholic's tuturial:)

What Can You Make By Recycling? ...

The Scrapoholic FB Challenge- Find something you were going to throw away and create a project instead...

Here is my entry for the contest:

Before: A water bottle ready to be recycled. All I did was took it out of the recycle bin and cut it in half...

and after... ready to use as a holder for my gel pens:)

Just wrap in card stock and add your favorite cut outs and ribbon. Fill with uncooked pinto beans to hold the pens and you have a place to store your favorite pens:) The butterflies are flying on stir sticks used for coffee.

I decided to make a first day of school layout. Every year my mom takes pictures on the first day of school. I didn't want to leave the layout blank, so I used some pictures that we just took. I don't really start school for another couple of weeks:)

For this challenge, we were asked to create a project of our choice with the theme "Nothing But Boys/Nothing But Dirt" and we could interpret this anyway we wanted. Angel Luminary by Madison

This beautiful stamp by My Heart Stamps For You is the focal point of the luminary I designed for this project. The angel is colored with Prismacolor pencils. The border for her to sit on was cut from the Wall Decor and More Cricut cartridge then welded using the Gypsy. The background for the project is vellum which has been embossed with the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug embossing folder. This pattern is repeated on all four sides.

It is important to remember that when you make luminaries,

you should always use battery operated candles:)

I have never made one of these cards before. It looks like a regular card until you open it...

and see that it is made up of a variety of panels:)

As you can see, I decided to make this card for a new baby girl!

In this picture you can see how the card opens and folds in several different places.

On the front: Welcome Little one- computer generated stamp, lamb cut from Create a Critter Cricut cartridge. Inside panels (left to right): top B-a-b-y made with colored beads; middle panel, flower made by Shelley at Heartstring Designs; lower panel, "So Dear" cut from Create a Critter Cricut cartridge; the next top, middle and lower panels are all card stock paper animals cut from Debbie Mumm paper; top panel, "Snug as a bug in a rug" is also Debbie Mumm paper stock; middle panel, onesie is cut from the Wall Decor and More Cricut cartridge; lower panel, "Bundle of Joy," is computer generated; the long panel on the right end is a computer generated journal box or place to write in the card:)

With Heartfelt Sympathy

The Cuttlebug Challenge this week was to make a sympathy card. I designed this card using a computer generated sentiment. The Swiss Dots Cuttlebug Embossing Folder was used to emboss the sentiment which says, "Someone remembers, someone cares, Your name is whispered in someone's prayers." The flowers were cut from the Plantin SchoolBook Cricut cartridge.

The inspiration for this card was a shopping trip I took today with my friend Claire:) We had a blast! We decided that we would shop for back to school clothes today! The challenge was to make a card and to put the word "Smile" somewhere on the card. We laughed and smiled all day as we shopped for clothes and decided that a girl's closet could never have enough clothes:)

Color Challenge:)

The Scrapoholic FB: Thursday Color Combo Challenge/Bright Green, Blue and Orange

This challenge was a color combo challenge (bright green, blue and orange). It is really hard to see in this photo but for the bright green I used a neon green paper. It just doesn't photograph that well so you don't see the true colors of the card. The neon paper was used for the flower stem and the background of the sentiment. The other colors that were used were blue for the card background and orange for the flower, sentiment shadow and ribbon. The flower was cut from the Create a Critter Cricut cartridge. The embossing was all done using the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug Embossing Folder. The bottom border was punched with the Martha Stewart Scallop Dot punch. The sentiment was computer generated. Cricut Me That: First Friday's Challenge #2: Girlfriends/The Scrapoholic Nothing But Girls Challenge

This challenge was all about celebrating GIRLFRIENDS:) The only rules were that you had to follow the theme and you had to use at least one Cricut cut out. As you can see, I included the girlfriend theme in my card:) I won the stamp in a challenge and just love it:) It is fun to make cards with. The girlfriends are cut with the Forever Young Cricut cartridge. I used the Swiss Dots embossing folder to emboss the background and the Martha Stewart Scallop Dot Punch for the bottom edges.
