Using the Hello Kitty and Sweethearts Cricut cartridges, this card was designed with the thought of sending love and well wishes to Trinitie.

I really love the stamp set that Emma, of My Creative Time, designed called, Just a Little Note to Say. It has wonderful sayings like this one that go perfectly with the thoughts that I want to express in my cards for my I Feel the Love Project. Thanks Emma!

Update regarding Trinitie

I wanted to pass on some good news regarding Trinitie, the current recipient of the cards from our

"I Feel the Love Project."

This news was posted today on Trinitie's Facebook page and written by her mom:

‎"As Christians, we stand in a win-win situation during times like this. Either I am going to keep my child, or God was going to keep my child"

While staying at the Ronald McDonald House I recently received a card with those words wrote in it. This card came from a lady that I have never had the pleasure of meeting. But those words, really hit home. Those are the words that I needed to hear and they have been stuck in my mind ever since. It's so true this is a win-win situation and I know in my heart and in my soul that whatever God chooses for my sweet daughter will be the BEST choice without a doubt!!

Today was a "WOW" Day!! I would like to start of by saying Trinitie's blood work came back PERFECT!! That is 3 weeks in a row now.. YIPPY!!

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss! Read Across America

We are celebrating READING and the wonderful Dr. Seuss. (click on photo to enlarge)

This is a painted canvas that I plan to give to my 1st grade teacher. I really enjoy creating canvases using a mixture of paint, paper, and flowers.

The two adorable digi stamps can be found at Papercraftingworld.com.

The bear digi stamp was downloaded into photoshop. The hot chocolate was erased and replaced with the Dr. Seuss quote, "Why fit in when you were born to stand out?"

Using the Formal Occasions Cricut cartridge, a frame and shadow were cut out for the sentiment, "If you can read this, thank a teacher!"

Kate McRae- August recipient "I Feel the Love Project"

From Kate's CaringBridge site: March 1st.

"2 Corinthians 1:9 Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But that was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead. 10 He delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will deliver us again. 11 You also must help us by prayer, so that many will give thanks on our behalf for the blessing granted us through the prayers of many.

We held chemo yesterday... The plan was already in place before her labwork was back. Kate's oncologist wanted to see what today's scan showed before opting to give it to her. So not surprisingly, we held it. Not much later her urinalysis came back showing protein in her urine, eliminating her from getting it anyways. We were prepared for that, so I wasn't surprised. Disappointed none the less. We decided to wait on even discussing what to do about treatment, her leg, a nephrologist and other symptoms, until we were able to see what was going on in her brain. It was silly to create scenarios when her scan was the following day. I was nervous. Very nervous. So instead of chemo, Kate skipped school and we went to lunch.

So this afternoon was the MRI. We were alone in the waiting room, for which I was grateful. No competition for my raging headache.

I won't drag this out, as my heart is overwhelmed! We received a phone call from Kate's oncologist while in recovery, only my phone was on vibrate. Then my voice mail wasn't working. So we stopped at the wireless store in hopes they could help with my messages as all calls to the hospital were now being routed to the on call Dr. I don't doubt I looked a little crazy eyed and short of breath as they looked at my phone and tried to help me retrieve the message.

We are so grateful for Dr Etzl making the point to call us so quickly with the results. Sparing these parents hearts the agony of hours or days of waiting. And we are beyond grateful for Jesus giving us a good scan! The message was brief but enough to hear that they saw no new tumors or recurrent ones! Thank you Jesus! Thank you! Thank you! They are unsure as to Kate's symptoms, or if it is simply from prior damage. Tonight we relish that it is NOT the sign of cancer!

We are so grateful for your prayers! So grateful!! We will update when we know more about treatment and other things. For tonight we celebrate God's mercy toward us today."

Double Trouble:)

Happy Friday:)

Last night I baby sat for two of my favorite little guys. Before I went to their house, I made a wall hanging for their mom and adoringly titled it:

"Double Trouble"

I found this fun paper at work (I work at Michael's) and was inspired to design this project. Brycen and Everett love playing with their dump trucks:) The paper is paired with the dump trucks from the Everyday Paper Dolls Cricut cartridge. A picture of the boys playing with their trucks finishes off the piece.

Of course we played with trucks!

"I Feel The Love" March

I Feel the Love Project: March 2012

It all started December 2011.... (as told by Trinitie's mom)

"A couple months before Christmas Trinitie was having some minor headaches, I really didn't pay that much attention to them. I gave her some Tylenol and thought it may have been due to lack of sleep, her diet, dehydration, or the fact that she was growing. The next week we monitored her and made sure that she was in fact getting enough sleep and drinking plenty of fluids. The headaches seemed to increase and I decided to take her to the pediatric clinic. When we arrived Trin ran a low grade fever (first time she had a fever with the headache symptoms) with no questions asked the nurse ran a swab test and she tested positive for the flu.

Trinitie took the flu medicine until it ran out but we had noticed that she wasn't feeling herself. She was very sluggish were she used to be bubbly and energetic, her headaches seemed to increase, she couldn't sleep and night, couldn't focus on her school work, and she was now vomiting several times a day. I took her back to her pediatrician.

After explaing this symptoms to him, he quickly ordered us to go the the nearby hospital and have a CT Scan performed. After that procedure had taken place we were ordered to have a MRI performed as they had noticed a mass on her brain and needed to get a closer more precise look. When they were finished they handed us a disk and told us to go back to the clinic and show our pediatrician the disk.

I remember this like it was yesterday, almost like something out of a Twilight movie. We pulled into the parking lot of a well known always crowded pediatric clinic to find no one in the parking lot and as we walked up to the front door a nurse greeted us as if they had been waiting for our arrival. At that moment I knew in my heart something was going on.

We sat in the room and waited for the Dr, when he walked into the room almost instantly I saw his face change. He said "there is no easy way to tell you this but, Trinitie has a Brain Tumor" Trinitie started crying and everything the Dr. said at that point was far off in the distance somewhere.

This is how Trinitie's journey begins..."

And now it is our turn to help bring some love and joy to this beautiful girl and her family. Trinitie is this month's recipient of our "I Feel the Love Project" cards. Happy February 29th!

Welcome to Funky Cards

Well, every 4 years we can say this,

"Happy February 29th!"

To those of you with a birthday today Happy Birthday!!! I am still having a hard time believing that the month is already over. I want to take this time to thank all of you who sent in cards for the "I Feel the Love Project." The sailors in Georgia are getting ready to deploy and they are going to be happy to receive a box of goodies from us before they do.

Along with the cards, they will be receiving prayer beads that fellow crafter Court sent to us. How awesome is that?

This month we received cards from several different elementary classes. I just love looking at kids' art. One little guy wrote, "Have a great day under water." Isn't that sweet?

I have been working on getting next month's post ready and it has been finalized. It will post tomorrow on March 1st. I can't tell you about it yet, so you will just have to stop back by tomorrow to check it out.

My goal is to grow this project, not for myself, but for the recipients. Each card that is made brings another smile and more love to the person who receives it. Spread the word so we can spread the love!!

Fun Felt Project

Good morning everyone. I couldn't start this post without taking time to wish my Grammy a Happy Birthday! So...

Happy birthday Grammy:)

Yesterday I took a break, just a small break, from playing with the Cameo to play with felt. I created several fun iPad apps to put on my keychain. They look so much better in person. They are really 3D and not flat. It is really hard to photograph felt, as least for me :)

So simple to make. Cut the felt to match the apps. Glue a piece of chain link between two layers of felt. Decorate the top layer. There really are super fun and cute in person.

My Cameo!!!

It's HERE and I am super excited:)

We got a Cameo!!!

Last night my mom and I played with the Cameo for a little while after I got home from work. The word "Cameo" was made with a banner file using the cut feature. The words "We," "Got," and "A," were made with the same banner file but this time I used the print and cut feature.

Lastly, we decided to step it up a notch for the girl, we used a digi stamp that was originally a jpeg file. We converted it to a pdf before importing it to the library. As a pdf file, we were able to trace around the stamp and cut it out so that we could print, cut, and then color:)

We had a blast trying to figure out what we were doing. We only had a few minutes since I had to work. Today I am off to do community service for my National Honor Society Club. I get to go to the beach to do a beach clean up. It is suppose to be in the 70's at the beach today:) I will be home later today so I can play again:)

These cute little cupcakes can be found on the Cupcake Lite Cricut cartridge. They just pop off the page with their cute little Peachy Keen faces. I love adding texture and this time the Cuttlebug Happy Birthday folder was used to emboss the background. "Grammy" was cut from the Pooh Font Set Cricut cartridge.

It has been over a week since my brother Dalton left home and headed back to Georgia to his naval base. For those of you who don't know, Dalton came home for a SURPRISE visit before heading out with the rest of his crew on his first deployment. I am so proud of him!!

There are so many wonderful U.S. citizens serving in our military. This month the "I Feel the Love Project" is showing how much we care by spreading our love to a group of sailors who are about to go underway. I am asking you to please help us make sure that our February project is successful.

Welcome to Funky Cards

I can't believe it is already Thursday! Where has this week gone? Hopefully you have all had a chance to be crafty this week:) Today I want to share a fun project with you. As you know if you have been following, I saved up enough money to buy an iPad and I recently showed you the cover I made for it in a blog post.

While checking out my new love, Pinterest, I saw something that looked fun and I decided to give it a try with my twist.

I decorated the back of my iPad with a vinyl Ms. Packman game:) I love how it turned out. Ms. Packman pieces were welded together using the Gypsy and various figures from the From My Kitchen Cricut cartridge. The cherries, the little dots and the other little characters are actually all from the From My Kitchen Cricut cartridge as well.

There are just so many things you can do with your Cricut and Gypsy. The sky is the limit!! Send me a link of your projects. I would love to see them:)

Sketch and 3 embellishments

We are making projects today based on the following sketch. In addition, we are including three embellishments:

My project included flowers, gems, and ink.

"Faith is knowledge within the heart...

beyond the reach of proof."

When I saw this stamp, I knew I wanted to make a sympathy card. It really spoke to me and I thought it was really appropriate for what I needed. This stamp set is from Close To My Heart and can be purchased through a consultant such as Ms. Elizabeth Mindemann, a member of our Cooking With Cricut design team.

The butterfly was cut from the Kate's ABC's Cricut cartridge. To complete the requirements for this week's challenge, three flowers and three gems were added to the card. In addition, the edges of the sentiment were inked. These three embellishments finished off the card nicely.

I am also entering this card in Emma's Throwback Thursday Challenge. This week you must have a bug on your project:)

I Feel the Love Project: February 2012

Honoring those who serve our country.

If you are a follower of my blog, you know that we are making cards this month for a group of sailors who are getting ready to go on deployment. This means that they are getting ready to leave behind family and friends and ultimately making sacrifices for you and for me.

The least we can do is to show our appreciation and to spread a little love before they leave. Please take a few moments out of your day to stop and make a card or two to send to these wonderful young individuals. It really does mean so much to them.

As you know by now, we were asked to design a project based on an inspiration, this inspiration being a love song. Well, since I am only 16 and I don't have a favorite love song, I picked a song that I really like listening to on the radio and interpreted it in the following way:

My love song is called, "Today was a Fairytale" by Taylor Swift.

My canvas wall hanging includes a photo of an elderly couple reminiscing about their "fairytale day" years ago. I am imagining that they took a trip to France and saw the Eiffel Tower. They are as much in love today as they were then, if not more.

This project starts with a coat of paint used to cover the canvas. Next, a 12 x 12 piece of patterned paper was torn around the edges and was adhered to the canvas using mod podge.

First, the photo of the couple was added, It was offset so that it hangs just over the side of the canvas. It was printed in black and white to highlight the age of the couple.

Second, an Eiffel Tower was created with chalk paper by first cutting out an Eiffel Tower using the Wall Decor and More Cricut cartridge and centering it on the chalk paper. Chalk was added all around the cut out and then the cut out was carefully removed.

Finally, the title of the project, "Today was a Fairytale" was computer generated and adhered to the canvas. Working with odd numbers typically brings about a balance so that is why there are three pieces on this project.

Tissue Photography

I hope this is the start of a wonderful three day weekend for everyone. Today, I want to share with you a project I am working on. I have discovered the art of tissue paper photography! Well, something like that:)

I learned how to transfer my photos onto tissue paper and then onto my canvases! It was really pretty easy and I love the way it looks:)

This is a picture of Peter and I with my BFF Claire and her date Matt. Claire was wearing 4 inch heels!! I look so short:) Anyway, isn't this cool how I was able to take my picture, print it in black and white, adhere it to a sheet of white tissue paper, put it back through my printer so that it comes out on the tissue paper, and then finally adhere it to the canvas with Mod Podge?

Not bad for my first try! In person it really looks like we are all ready to just walk right off of the canvas.

I am doing a grouping of three for my mom. I am having too much fun with this. How can you not love crafting?

We are making more Valentine's Day cards this week. This time we want to see what you can do with the color black, a brad, and a card for an adult. My mom likes it when I make cards for her to give away, so I hope she likes this one.

The Plantin SchoolBook and Sweethearts Cricut cartridges were used to design and create this pretty Valentine's Day card. The background paper was embossed with the Cuttlebug Polka Dots embossing folder to give the card more pop. The brads were used as the centers of the paper flowers.

Dance, Dance, Dance

Welcome to Funky Cards

Good morning. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and are looking forward to a fantastic new week. I wanted to share with you a card I recently made but had not yet posted. I was inspired to make this for someone special to give after a dance recital.

There are three different stamps used to make this card. They are from the Pink By Design stamp set called "Our Kids." They are simply lined up one after the other and stamped onto the paper. Brown ink was used to compliment the pink in the 3D dress.

The dress was cut using the Accents Essentials Cricut cartridge. This is a 3.5 inch scalloped circle scored between all scallops except for one. The one that was not scored was cut out and used as the top of the dress. The rest were accordion folded and used as the bottom half of the dress. The flowers were cut from the Formal Occasions Cricut cartridge.

I was pleased with how this card turned out. I liked the textures and colors and overall design of the card. What do you think? Leave me a comment. I would love to hear from you.

I Feel The Love

I Feel the Love Project: February 2012

Honoring those who serve our country.

The U.S. military employs many brave and honorable men and women. As part of their jobs, they are asked to be away from their families for months at a time. This can be really hard for not only the military personnel, but for their family members as well. This month, we will be making cards for members of the U.S. Navy who will soon be leaving to go overseas. We would like to send them some love and support before they deploy for their next mission.

This is a great opportunity to say thank you to those who are working hard to keep our country safe. I would like to be able to send 100 cards. This is our goal. I know we can do it. This is a short month so we need to get started. This would be a great activity for a students too:)

Love is in the air and it is once again time to start making those Valentine's Day cards. This week it is all about the kids and the colors red, white, and pink. I don't know about you, but nothing says Happy Valentine's Day like...

"I Love You."

"Using the Sesame Street Friends and Robotz Cricut cartridges, this adorable children's card was designed and created and is now ready to give to a special little Valentine.

The background paper was stamped with a heart stamp and embossed with the Cuttlebug Divine Swirls embossing folder to give the card more pop. Well, time for more shoe repair. As some of you may remember, I love to redo shoes. Here is a reminder of my love for Toms shoes. I once started with a pair of white Toms and painted them:

Well, after working at Michael's for over six months now, my black Toms have really taken a beating. Check out what my black Toms looked like:

Yikes, the right shoe is in need of some major repair. I think I may need to just buy another black pair for work and then repair these. Well, you know me, I am not going to leave them black if they aren't going to be for work. Hmmmmmm. I have already painted a pair. Now what should I do. I know!!! I will use fabric on my shoes!!! I have lots of fabric:) Be right back... Grab a snack. This may take a moment. Enjoy some good music.

I had to repair them before adding the material, ribbon, and buttons.

They are just so comfy:) I got the designs on the shoes to match. No need to throw away my comfy shoes. They are ready to wear and as good as new. I am so happy.

Good Sunday Morning

Before I head off to church and to work I thought I would leave you with a new post and a preview of something I am working on. Last weekend I went to my Winer Formal so it is time once again to make a scrapbook:) I just love putting together new books. I will share with you this morning one picture from the evening. This is a picture of me and Peter.

We went with a group of 42 of our closest friends! LOL! Actually, our group did have 44 students. We decorated our education room at the church and our dinner was made by one of the grandmothers. She is an awesome cook. She is from Thailand. The dance was held at a different location.

This week the theme of our challenge is

Using the Formal Occasions and Jubilee Cricut cartridges, this door hanger was designed and created to remind my family that sometimes I just need to be left alone when I am in my crafting zone. The sentiment reads:

"NOT NOW

I'M CRAFTING"

For those of you who own the Formal Occasions Cricut cartridge, you may recognize the girl as the DJ. I cut away her turn table and gave her a sign to hold instead:)

Now, she also has a bit of an identity. Instead of a blank face, eyes, lips, and inked cheeks were added. Her dress is embossed with a paisley Cuttlebug embossing folder and of course her nails are painted with a pink gel pen!

When we are going through a dark time, experiencing one of our most difficult challenges in life, it is always more comforting to have the support of family, friends, and even those we don't know who are willing to share their love and compassion. "Olivia Cappelluti was born on Aug. 2, 2011 to parents, Jon and Loreto Lara Cappelluti. She was a twin, weighing only 2.2 lbs at birth, and, as a result of unusual developmental patterns, had both heart and lung defects. Her life expectancy was two weeks. Defying the odds, Olivia not only lived, she thrived, remaining in the hospital, gaining weight and preparing herself for open-heart surgery. Two months later, the first surgery was performed and afterwards, this spunky 2-month old was able to be disconnected from all life-support tubes and took nourishment for the first time by mouth!

October 7, 2011

On Monday, Dec. 19^th, at 4 ½ months old, Olivia was taken in for her second open-heart surgery, this one more complicated and risky than the first one. She was on the operating table for nine hours while surgeons worked diligently to correct her heart defects. This amazing little fighter survived this ordeal, but her battle wasn’t over. During the next 24 hours, a blockage developed. The doctors realized her only hope was yet another surgery. Wednesday morning, while in the operating room, God called her home…her work here was done. Heaven had a new little angel that day….we miss her."

Olivia's parents, Jon and Loreto had hoped and prayed that they would be taking Olivia home by Christmas. God had other plans. At this time, we need to stand behind this family as they grieve the loss the of their beautiful daughter. This week the theme of our challenge is winter warmth. When I think of getting warm, I think of a big mug of hot chocolate! Well, my Papa thinks of a big cup of coffee. He starts each morning with his coffee:) This week is my Papa's birthday and I made a birthday card for him with his favorite morning coffee.

Using Gypsy Wandering, this cup and steam were cut out to make this winter warm birthday card for my Papa. The computer generated sentiment reads:

"A cup full of Birthday Wishes for you Papa."

The edges of the cup were inked and stitched to give it a more interesting look. I hope you have a wonderful birthday Papa! You deserve the best. I love you:)

We are creating projects using something old- (*Everyday Paper Dolls Cricut cartridge), something new (*canvas), something borrowed (*boat from Going Places Cricut cartridge modified and used with the fisherman from Everyday Paper Dolls Cricut cartridge), and something blue (*background paint). *My project

Happy Birthday Grandpa!!!

I really enjoy mixing paints and papers. So this project started as a blank canvas and using five different colors of paint, the water, horizon, and beach were created. Textures were also introduced by embossing the boat using the Cuttlebug. Ink was used on the boat and fish to add highlights and a gel pen finished off the fisherman and fish with extra color.

The "Birthday Wishes" stamp is from the Pink By Design Vintage Stamp Set. It originally said "Kind Birthday Wishes" but since I only wanted the last two words, I carefully inked the stamp and any ink that got on the word "Kind" was rubbed off prior to adding the stamp to the project. You could also tape over the word, but in this case the word was very small and I chose to just be careful and it worked.

When I look at this photo, I see a peaceful, calm setting. Nature can be really beautiful. I wanted to create a scene like this for my card.

My scene takes place in a yard. You can imagine that a child might swing here. Small animals might crawl along the fence. There is a sense of peace here. The sentiment on this card reads:

"Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal."

I thought I would share some pictures with you from my trip to Los Angeles. I had the opportunity to help build a deck! It was really cool. You may notice in the pictures that I was the only female. At first the guys thought I may need a little instruction, but they soon learned that I knew my way around the tools:)

I also had the opportunity to put on a Bible club for the children. A couple of them thought it would be fun to attack me with their animal puppets:)

I am grateful for the opportunity I had to travel to Los Angeles to work with the less fortunate. I really hope you all had a wonderful Christmas vacation. I am back in school starting Tuesday. As we begin this new year, we would like to challenge you to use something new that you just received as a gift. Maybe you got a new Cricut cartridge, some new bling or some new paper that you are ready to try working with!! Well, now's the time. You only need to use one new thing and please remember to tell us what that new thing was. As usual, your project needs to include a Cricut cut out somewhere on the project. If you don't have any new products, you can use something that was recently received or purchased:) Have fun. That is what is most important:)

I always write thank you cards after Christmas to show my appreciation to those who gave me a gift. I decided to make my thank you cards my challenge project this week.

These cards were all made with the same new paper stack, "Fancy Free" from KI Memories, that I received as a gift from my mom. I love how the solid colors all coordinated with the patterned paper. There are so many nice soft colors.

This "Thank You" comes from the Tear Drop Cricut cartridge. The letters were individually glued to the orange squares.

"Thanks" was cut out using the Robotz Cricut cartridge. The flowers were hand cut from the paper and attached to a hand made border. Pop dots were used to pop them up for added dimension and interest.

Stamping is always fun! This "Thank You" stamp can be found at the Pink By Design Store. The elephant can be found on the Zooballoo Cricut cartridge.

Jaded Blossom carries this "Thank You" stamp. The photograph is a bit fuzzy but the stamp looks great in person. The butterflies were cut from the Kate's ABC's Cricut cartridge.

This "Thank You" stamp can be found at the Pink By Design Store. The big giraffe was cut from the Zooballo Cricut cartridge and the little giraffe is a brad.

Jaded Blossom also carries these "Thank Hoo" and "owl" stamps.

I already mentioned that the paper was new. In addition, the black, grey, pink, and yellow paper flowers are also new. I can't wait to keep crafting. Having a break from school is great. I hope you all had a wonderful New Year and are looking forward to a fantastic 2012:)

I Made It Myself

If you have been following me for awhile, you know that I am a big fan of making things for myself from things I already have. I like being "Green" and I like not having to spend my money if I don't have to. Well... I challenged myself yet again. I really wanted to make something (I won't say yet what it is) but I had not idea how to do it. So I decided to watch a YouTube video:) I studied the video carefully and learned that I had everything I needed to make my own _____! Do you want to see it?

First let me tell you that when I was making it, I didn't even have any use for it. It was only wishful thinking! Like if somehow if I made this, I would need it!!!! Ok, ok, here it is:

So here is the outside. I took measurements to make sure it would fit... I added an iron on giraffe because I thought it would be cute:)

This is the back. I added more iron on patches just because:) So, do you already know what this is???

That probably didn't help much!

How about now? I have an iPad!!!

I have been saving all of my babysitting money in the piggy bank I made for one of the blog hops last year. After Christmas I opened it up and when I added my Christmas money I had enough!!! I was so shocked and happy:) I worked hard but I did it. I had a goal and now I have an iPad. This case was really easy to make following the YouTube video. It is reinforced with masonite board inside to make it durable. Of course I am always careful!!

Favorite Project of 2011

This week we are looking back at the projects we made this past year and re-posting our favorite projects. We want to see your favorite projects too! So head back in time and re-post the project that you think was one of your favorites:)

I chose to re-post this Winnie the Pooh themed growth chart that I designed and created for a child's bedroom using the Pooh Font Set Cricut cartridge. If you didn't see it the first time around I am glad you get this chance to check it out. If you did see it, I hope you enjoy it the second time around too:)

I had an idea to create a growth chart for a toddler's bedroom and it was so fun to make. (Click on photo to enlarge).

I know not everyone can stay in the same home as their children grow, so what happens to the special marks you make on the wall when you leave? Well, how about taking them with you?

"How Tall Are You"

On this growth chart you are able to record your child's name, date, age, and how tall they were on that day!

Winnie the Pooh is a removable marker that tells you how tall your child is at the current time:) He is held on by two way tape. You can choose to remove him and replace him with a smaller Pooh or decorative honey pot or you can keep him there and just keep adding more Poohs as you go!! It is up to you! As you chart your child's growth, the growth chart will become more decorative:)

You can start the chart at whatever measurement you would like, but remember to hang it from the floor at the correct height!

When you are finished with the chart you can take it down and save it as a keepsake so you will always know how tall your kids were at any given age:) I didn't write on mine so that it can be used!!

Update on Ethan Pinter

Update on Ethan Pinter

As you may recall, we made birthday cards for Ethan as he turned two in November. Ethan was diagnosed with a rare liver disease called Biliary Atresia at the age of 2 months old. Thanks to a liver transplant and the wonderful care he received from his doctors, Ethan celebrated his 2nd birthday in November.

Here is part of a FaceBook post that Melissa, his mom, posted yesterday:

"Hey everyone ...wow where do I start?? My son Ethan was acting terrific for Christmas and then all of a sudden at 4:15 am He started to vomit and all day he was acting lethargic...so I talked to the GI docs in Cincinnati and they told me to take him to Beegleys campus in youngstown...so I did.. His breathing has been really acting up too well... they thought he had traiciamalasia and that is where it is not maturing and it will improve over time(his breathing) and then they were like no he has crupe... so the doc didn't feel comfortable and they decided to life flight me to Akron Children's... That is where I am now and he is in the PICU and they did a CT SCAN and he is showing fluid in his brain, and behind his ears, His left lympnode is also enlarged and same with his tonsils and adnoids.. So the doc ruled out crupe and traiculamaisia bc he was not born with this... So in the back in my mind I have thought that he had PTLD(POST TRANSPLNT LYMPHOMIA DISORDER) and so i asked the doc what I thought and in the mean time he was like (the doc) Ethan's body is in destressed and well they put him on vapotherm to see if that would help and it did not, so they had decided to intebate him..he will be like this till he gets most tests done in cinci... that could be another 48 hrs... (sigh) and then I went to take a shower and came out and the doc stopped me and told me the NEWS... My beautiful baby boy is showing signs of PTLD and that is cancer in his lymphnodes.... So here I am awaiting for the crew to life flight me and ethan to Cincinnati Children's and Then Ethan and I's Journey will start! My daughter will be staying with my mom and my husband will be in Cortland Ohio and will be driving back and forth just like liver transplant... "

Good morning and Merry Christmas Eve to all. I want to give a shout out today to my two crafty friends Candace and Michelle from Jaded Blossom. I love their new line of stamps and I wanted to share with you what I made using them.

I just finished making Reindeer Poop for all my mom's God Children:) She used these packages as the tags for their gifts. Click on the photo to enlarge.

The stamp set, Reindeer Magic, included the Reindeer Poop message, the To and From stamps and the cute little Reindeer. It was quick and easy to make these tags and so much fun. We delivered the first set last night and I loved the reaction that we received. "MOM, I GOT POOP!!"

Christmas Card Tree

Welcome to Funky Cards

Today is December 19th and it is finals week for me:) Christmas break is just around the corner and I can't wait!! My brother Aaron is already home from UC San Diego for his break and as I mentioned before, Dalton will not be able to make it home from the Navy this year.

I have been able to find time to craft even though I have been busy working and keeping up with my homework. One of the things I made was a Christmas card tree. I wanted a way to display the Christmas cards that have come in the mail.

This tree started with a tree brach cut from the front yard. It was put in a pretty vase that was filled with float rock from the yard. Yippy, no expense:) Snowflakes were cut from several different Cricut cartridges including Accents Essentials and Winter Woodland. These snowflakes were adhered to the tree with a tiny piece of tape from my ATG Gun. Once the tree was finished, it was ready to add the cards. A small hole was punched in each card and a piece of red ribbon was used to hold the card in place. The tree is the center piece on our dining room table.

I love the idea ofdecorating our Christmas tree with a variety of special Christmas ornaments. Someof them are from the store, but a lot of them are homemade. This year I made a specialornament that I want to share with you. This ornament started out as alight bulb in my bathroom and when it burnt out I decided to repurposeit:)

For the backgroundcolor, acrylic paint was carefully poured onto a paper towel and rolled in the same direction around thelight bulb. More pressure wasapplied while rolling to the areas where lesscolor was needed since the pressure would remove the paint.

Letters were cutfrom vinyl at 1/2" from the Pooh Font Set Cricut Cartridge. This personalized Christmas ornament hasour family's last name. Of courseyou could make them with firstnames, last names, school names and colors or a variety of different options. Apretty bow on top finishes off the ornament.

My second ornament is a felt ornament. I like to make animals out of felt for kids. I made this elephant for Kate McRae for Christmas. Kate was our August "I Feel the Love Project" recipient. Challenge #64 - Holiday cards, gifts, & tags

Today we are going to focus on the quick and easy types of projects that we can create. These can be cards, gifts, or even tags. For my project, I decided to make a gift for my grandparents that was really quick and easy. I asked my mom to bake her ever so yummy homemade Biscotti for me but you can fill your treat box with whatever you would like.

This treat container once held cookies from the grocery store. It looked like it was going to be the perfect size for an altered project so when the cookies were gone I cleaned it thoroughly and saved it for a future project:) Paper flowers were attached with an ATG Gun to the top and sides of the container.

A pretty pink bow was used to tie up the gift and a quick and easy tag was made using the free cutting file given away during the 25 Days of Crafting Fun here at Cooking With Cricut!!!

Dalton's card was made using the Create a Critter and Stand and Salute Cricut cartridges. With a bit of embossing and ribbon to complete the card, I think it looks really cute:)

Welcome to Funky Cards

I am totally feeling the love!!

Katie and Jesse once again have made two cards to share with us for the "I Feel the Love Project." These two young ladies go to a small school with very limited supplies. They designed and created these cards all by themselves. I just LOVE the cards girls. Awesome job!! Can't wait to see more from you. You ROCK:)

I have never been a Girl Scout or a Brownie but from what I am learning these young ladies work on service projects each month. I group of Brownies decided that for their service project for the month of December they would make cards for the "I Feel the Love Project." How awesome are they? They made over 40 cards to send to the kids at The Pediatric Oncology Unit at Kaiser Hospital.

You young ladies are so sweet!! I appreciate you so much!
